The Five Rías Baixas Along the Western Coast of Spain42.2N 8.7W
The Rías Baixas are five rias, flooded river valleys that form estuaries, along the western coast of Spain just north of Portugual. Visible here, bottom to top, are the Ría de Vigo, Ría de Pontevedra, Ría de Arousa, Ría de Muros e Noia, and Ría de Corcubión.
The Verdugo River flows into the Ría de Vigo, and the Cíes Islands are situated near the mouth of the estuary. The Lérez River flows into the Ría de Pontevedra, with the Ons Islands by the estuary mouth. Both the Umia and the Ulla Rivers flow into the Ría de Arousa, with Arousa Island inside the estuary and Sálvora Island near its mouth.
