Sediments from Shatt al-Arab in Persian Gulf27.0N 51.0E
Sediments from the river delta of the Shatt al-Arab, which carries the waters of the Euphrates and the Tigris Rivers, can be seen flowing into the western end of the Persian Gulf.
While Iraq and Kuwait are located by this western end, the lower shoreline visible here belongs mostly to Saudi Arabia and the upper shoreline to Iran. The peninsula on which Qatar is situated is partially covered by clouds. The terrain to the south appears low and sandy, while hills are visible to the north upon moving further inland.
