Peru, from Coastal Piura Region to Amazon Rainforest

Peru - November 3rd, 2010

The tan colored area along the coast of Peru in the upper left quadrant is part of the country’s Piura Region. “Punta Pariñas”, the section of land closest to the left edge, is South America’s most western point.

Further inland, across the Andes Mountains, lies part of the Amazon Rainforest. Various rivers whose waters are tan from sediments can be seen zig-zagging across the dark green, vegetated terrain.
