Paraná River and São Paulo, Brazil

23.5S 46.6W

July 4th, 2011 Category: Rivers

Brazil - June 17th, 2011

The thick, blue-grey line running diagonally across this image of Brazil is the Paraná River. It is second in length only to the Amazon River among South American rivers. Several reservoirs can be seen to the east of it.

In the lower right corner is the city of São Paulo, appearing as a large grey expanse near the coastline. São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil, the largest city in the western and southern hemisphere, and the world’s seventh largest city by population.
