Ottawa, Gatineau and Rideau Rivers, Canada

Canada - March 30th, 2011

The bright white areas in this orthorectified image of Canada indicate the locations of the twin cities of Ottawa and Gatineau, separated by the Ottawa River. Gatineau is situated along the northern banks, while Ottawa, the capital, is located along the southern banks.

The Ottawa River also marks the boundary between Quebec, to the north, and Ontario, to the south. Also worth noting is that it is significantly wider to the west of the cities. Finally, two other rivers can be seen flowing perpendicular to the Ottawa: the Gatineau River (above) and the Rideau River (below).
