Islands of Mayotte Between Mozambique and Madagascar12.8S 45.1E
The two large landmasses visible in this image are Mozambique (left) and Madagascar (right), separated by the Mozambique Channel. Tan, sediment-laden rivers can be seen flowing down towards the shorelines of both countries.
Visible near the top edge is Mayotte, an overseas department and region of France consisting of a main island, Grande-Terre (or Mahoré), a smaller island, Petite-Terre (or Pamanzi), and several islets around these two. The archipelago is located in the northern Mozambique Channel in the Indian Ocean.
