Currents off Eastern Coast of Italy
On land, many rivers and streams can be see running down the mountains and hills to the western coastline of Italy.
Over water, the heavy outflow of the rivers is visible as lighter grey areas. The rivers are spilling large amounts of sediments into the Adriatic Sea, due to the heavy rainfall afflicting Italy in December.
The mouth of each river is easily identifiable at the point where the groove on land meets the grey streak in the sea.
Further offshore, the swirling currents in the Adriatic appear as lighter curves.
