Condensation Trails Above Florida, USA
Large jets flying to and from Florida’s major cities create wide condensation trails over the state. The cities of St. Petersburg and Tampa are visible at the bottom center. Along the western coastline, north of these cities, sun glint off the Gulf of Mexico makes the shadows of two contrails visible on the water.
Many lakes and rivers can be seen. In particular, the brown waters of the St. Johns River is visible near the eastern coast at the top. The St Johns is north-flowing, which is somewhat unusual among U.S. rivers.
It is the longest river in the U.S. state of Florida, stretching 310 miles (500 km) from Indian River County to the Atlantic Ocean in Jacksonville in Duval County.
