This image shows the city of Amsterdam (top center), in the west of the Netherlands. The river Amstel terminates in the city centre and connects to a large number of canals that eventually terminate in the IJ. Amsterdam is connected to the North Sea through the long North Sea Canal.
The city of Rotterdam, also in the west of the Netherlands, is visible in the lower left quadrant. The city and the greater Rotterdam area are situated at the end of the Rhine Delta. The port of Rotterdam is the largest in Europe.
