Sediments Along Spanish Coast from Ebro Delta to Cap de la Nau

November 13th, 2010 Category: Mountains, Rivers

Spain - October 19th, 2010

Sediments line the eastern coast of Spain, in the Balearic Sea (part of the Mediterranean Sea). The majority are spilling forth from the Ebro Delta, protruding off the coast in the upper part of the image, and reach down to Cap de la Nau (“Cape of the Ship”), at the end of the large peninsula extending out into the sea.

East of Cap de la Nau are the islands of Ibiza (larger, above) and Formentera (smaller, below). They are members of the Balearic Islands group.

Inland, the terrain is mixed between dry and tan in color, and green with vegetation, mostly in areas at higher elevations. The Pyrenees can be observed at the top of the full image.
