Ice and Phytoplankton in Atlantic Near Iceland

The swirls of two very different phenomenon can be seen in the North Atlantic Ocean, near Iceland. In the upper part of the image are patterns of melting or freezing ice following the path of ocean currents. In the lower part of the image are the faint swirls of a phytoplankton bloom that is either beginning or reaching its end.
