April 7th, 2011 Category: Mountains

Mexico - March 30th, 2011

While the land of the Yucatan Peninsula (above) is mostly flat, mountains can be seen to the south in this image of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and El Salvador (clockwise from left).

The mountains are a continuation of the Sierra Madre del Sur called the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. The extremely volcanic range runs from northwest to southeast along the Pacific Ocean coast.
