March 8th, 2011 Category: Mountains

Madagascar - February 18th, 2011

This orthorectified image stretches across western Madagascar. The thumbnail focuses on the country’s Central Highlands. The highlands are a plateau region ranging in altitude from 2,450 to 4,400 ft (747 to 1,341 m) above sea level.

On the west side of Madagascar, the descent from the central highlands toward the west is more gradual than on the east side, with remnants of deciduous forest and savanna-like plains.
