38.4N 1.9E

October 8th, 2010 Category: Deserts, Mountains

Spain - August 26th, 2010

This image focuses on the countries around the western part of the Mediterranean Sea. Spain occupies the upper left quadrant, Morocco the lower left quadrant, and Algeria the lower right quadrant. Several islands can also be observed, including Spain’s Balearic Islands (center) and the western shoreline of Sardinia (upper right corner), belonging to Italy.

Part near the shoreline, Morocco and Algeria show some green vegetation, although their landscape in the image is mostly dominated by the Sahara Desert to the south. Spain also shows some dry areas, although the terrain by the Pyrenees appears particularly green and vegetated.
