April 26th, 2011 Category: Mountains

Japan - April 17th, 2011

Snow covers the mountains parallel to the western coast of Japan’s main island, Honshu. A few patches of snow can be observed atop the mountains near the eastern coast, although Mount Fuji (whose conical summit can be seen in the full image, west of Tokyo), appears snow-free.

Several cities can be observed along the coast. In the lower left quadrant are Osaka (left) and Nagoya (right), with Kyoto inbetween the two. At the center right is Tokyo and its surrounding metropolitan area.
