The capital and largest city of Spain, Madrid, is visible as an expansive white area in the lower half of this orthorectified image.  The city is located on the Manzanares River; several reservoirs are visible to the north.

Also visible to the North of the city is the Sierra de Guadarrama, a mountain range forming the eastern half of the Sistema Central, a mountain range that runs through the middle of the Iberian Peninsula. The range runs from southwest to northeast, extending for a distance of 80 km.
