The Serra da Mesa Lake (top left), an artificial lake created by the dam of the same name, is the fifth largest lake in Brazil, located in the northwest of the state of Goiás.
An area of 1784 km² is flooded by the dam, at an elevation of 460 m (above sea level), with a water volume of 54.4 billion cubic meters.
Formed by the Tocantins, Traíras and Maranhão Rivers, the lake’s waters are alcaline.
Southeast of the lake, a large agricultural area is visible, with many fields near the region’s rivers and streams.
