Sediments in the Southern End of Lake Nasser, Sudan and Egypt22.8N 32.5E
This thumbnail image focuses on the lower portion of Lake Nasser, in northern Sudan and southern Egypt. The entire reservoir and nearby Toshka Lakes can be seen in the full image.
The lake was created by a dam on the Nile River at what is now the southern end of the reservoir. Here, the waters nearest the dam appear brown from sediments. This color then changes from bright green to dark blue as the sediments diffuse into the rest of the lake.
