Rome, Italy and nearby lakes - December 12th, 2008

Thanks to ASAR (radar), it is possible to see through the heavy storm clouds that have been covering Italy for the past two weeks.

The city of Rome is visible in white, in the lower right quadrant. Several lakes can also be seen (from top left to bottom right): Bolsena Lake, Viccolo Lake and its surrounding nature reserve, Bracciano Lake, Albano Lake and Nemi Lake.

The sea water appears light grey and thus quite choppy. Currents from the heavy outflow of rivers can also be observed along the coastline, moving in a southeasterly direction.
