Egypt - July 12th, 2011

The Nile River flows northward from Lake Nasser (bottom right), on the border between Sudan and Egypt. Lake Nasser appears silver in color due to sun glint.

As the Nile exits the northern reaches of the lake, it appears as a green ribbon, as it is flanked by a fertile valley. Visible at the top edge is the beginning of the triangular Nile Delta, with the city of Cairo visible in the full image as a grey area at the base of the delta.
