Nations In and Around the Eastern Mediterranean35.4N 33.6E
This image shows the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea and the nations in and surrounding it. The island nation of Cyprus is visible amidst the dark blue Mediterranean waters.
Around the shoreline are (clockwise from top left) Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel-Palestine, and Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. Further inland, in the lower right quadrant, Jordan and parts of Saudi Arabia and Iraq are also visible.
Although some green and brown mountainous areas can be observed by the coast, particularly in Turkey, most of the land to the east appears quite arid.
Several bodies of water can be observed, however: the Dead Sea can be seen between Israel-Palestine and the West Bank (left) and Jordan (right) in the lower part of the image, while to the north Lake Assad is visible in Syria, connected to the Euphrates River.
