March 5th, 2011 Category: Lakes, Mountains, Rivers

Ethiopia - February 10th, 2011

The growth of algae and the presence of sediments causes Lake Tana (lower left corner) to appear light green in color. Entering the lake by the dark green area on the southwestern shores is the Lesser Abay River.

The lake is located in the Ethiopian highlands. The Semien Mountains can be seen to the northeast. To the east of the mountains is an artificial reservoir located near the town of Ozentari.
