DRC and Zambia - July 17th, 2010

Lake Tanganyika cuts diagonally across the upper right part of this image. The lake, situated in central Africa, is shared by four countries: Tanzania (upper right), Burundi (near top edge of lake and image), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (left) and Zambia (lower right).

A smaller, more rounded lake is visible south of it: Lake Mweru
Lake Mweru. It is located on the border between Zambia and Democratic Republic of the Congo. This freshwater lake is also situated on the longest arm of Africa’s second-longest river, the Congo, making up 110 km of the total length of that river.
