Lakes Near Alps in Europe – September 2nd, 201145.5N 10.6E
Little snow is visible on the Alps in this late-summer image of Italy and parts of France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. The Apennines, running down the backbone of the Italian peninsula, are also snow-free.
Several dark blue lakes can be seen near the Alps: Lake Geneva (left), on the French-Swiss border, Lake Garda (center), in northern Italy, and Lake Constance (top center), on the German-Austrian-Swiss border. Visible near the upper right corner is the bright green Lake Balaton, in Hungary.
