Egypt and Sudan - January 16th, 2011

The Nile River flows through the center of this image, from Egypt (above) through Sudan (below). Lake Nasser, the irregularly shaped reservoir in the upper part of the image, is shared between the two countries.

The Red Sea can be seen to the east, separating Egypt and Sudan from Saudi Arabia. As one moves eastward towards the sea, the terrain changes from flat desert to more mountainous.
