Lake Garda and Mount Baldo, Italy
Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, is located in the north of the country. The northern part of the lake is narrower, surrounded by mountains of the Italian Alps, the majority of which belong to the Gruppo del Baldo, also known as Mount Baldo.
The ridges of Mount Baldo and the rest of the Italian Alps are seen very clearly here as the image has been orthorectified, eliminating geometric distortion.
Mount Baldo’s ridge spans mainly northeast-southwest, and stretches for 40 km parallel to Lake Garda, which bounds it to the west.
Mount Baldo reaches its maximum elevation of 2,218 m at Valdritta, and its minimum elevation of 65 m by Lake Garda.
