Several mountain ranges can be seen crossing this image of Mexico: the Sierra Madre Oriental, parallel to the eastern coast, the Sierra Madre Occidental, parallel to the western coast and running through the central part of the country, and the Sierra Madre del Sur, parallel to the southern coast.

Also visible near the left edge is Lake Chapala, Mexico’s largest freshwater lake. Its approximate dimensions are 80 km (49.70 miles) from east to west and 18 km (11.18 miles) from north to south, and it covers a total of some 1,100 kmĀ² (424 square miles).
