This image stretches from the southern Caspian Sea (above) to the Persian Gulf (below), across Iran and Iraq. In Iran, the Alborz Mountains frame the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. Visible at the left edge is the reddish-brown Lake Urmia, ringed by white salt flats.
In Iraq, the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers can be seen crossing the country and merging to form the Shatt al-Arab before emptying into the Persian Gulf. Greenish sediments from the river are visible near the coast.
