The Gulf of Fonseca, part of the Pacific Ocean, is a gulf in Central America, bordering El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. Here, the gulf’s shores are lined with greenish sediments, and several islands can be observed within its boudaries.
Another body of water, Lake Managua, in Nicaragua, can be seen to the southeast of the Gulf of Fonseca. It is green in color from sediments and algae. At 1,042 km², it is approximately 65 kilometres (40 miles) long and 25 kilometres (15 miles) wide.
