Mexico - January 21st, 2011

Lake Chapala, the largest freshwater lake in Mexico, is visible as an elongated green area near the left edge of the image. The city of Guadalajara can be observed near the northwest end of the lake, appearing as a circular grey area.

While clouds hug the slopes of the Sierra Madre Oriental (east) range and extend eastward towards the Gulf of Mexico, the Sierra Madre Occidental (west) range is completely cloud free and is easily observed parallel to the coast by the bottom of the image.
