Green Channels in Lake Mackay, Australia

April 7th, 2011 Category: Lakes

Australia - March 31st, 2011

Lake Mackay is the largest of hundreds of ephemeral salt lakes scattered throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The lake is often dry and appears as a white salt flat.

However, in this image, water appears to be present, with several greenish channels visible throughout the lake, and greyish green coloring from water, algae or some sort of desert vegetation in the western half.
