The vast artificial reservoir known as Lake Nasser, in southern Egypt and northern Sudan, stands out against the surrounding tan Sahara Desert. The lake is mostly dark blue in color, although the southern reaches have a greenish tinge.

It is situated along the Nile River, which can be seen flowing northward from the bottom right. The smaller Toshka Lakes are visible west of Lake Nasser. Continuing further west, multiple circular, irrigated fields can be observed as well.
