Volcanoes and Lakes in West Sumatra, Indonesia – May 1st, 20110.6S 100.5E
This APM image shows two lakes on the island of West Sumatra, Indonesia. To the west is Lake Maninjau, a caldera lake, and to the east is Lake Singkarak.
Situated between the two lakes are several volcanoes. To the east is Mount Marapi, a complex volcano and the most active volcano in Sumatra. Its elevation is 2891.3 m. To the west are the twin volcanoes of Singgalang (north-northeast), with an elevation of 2,877 m (9,439 ft) and Mount Tandikat (south-southwest).
