Volcanoes Along the DRC-Rwanda Border – October 12th, 20111.4S 29.4E
This orthorectified image shows several volcanoes near the border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, just north of Lake Kivu. All of the volcanoes are part of the Virunga Mountains.
Near the center left edge is Mount Nyamuragira, an active volcano. About 13 km to the southeast is Mount Nyiragongo, whose main crater is flanked by two other indentations, is a stratovolcano just west of the border with Rwanda.
Moving to the northeast, one can see the Mikeno Volcano, Mount Bisoke and Mount Karisimbi (clockwise from left) clustered together.
