Brazil - January 26th, 2010

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of South America around the Paraná River. Parts of southern Brazil, including the states of Mato Grosso do Sul (west of the river), São Paulo (east of the river, above) and Paraná (east of the river, middle) are visible, as well as some areas of Paraguay and Argentina near the triple border by the Iguazú falls.

The majority of the image shows a good to high vegetation index: green areas are indicative of good photosynthetic activity, and red areas are indicative of high activity. Yellow areas, of which there are few, indicate low activity.
