Trikala and Plastiras Dam in Greece – December 24th, 201039.5N 21.7E
This orthorectified image shows mountains and plains in Greece. The city of Trikala, capital of the Trikala Prefecture, can be seen on the fertile plain of Thessaly in central Greece.
South of the plain lies Plastiras Lake, the reservoir created by the Plastiras Dam on the Tavropos or (Megdovas) River. The dam was locally constructed and lies in the Agrafa region. It is used for power and as a water supply reservoir for the Agrafa region, and is a significant irrigation source for farmers in the plains of Thessaly.
