The Great Barrier Reef, Australia - October 30th, 2008

Despite the presence of some clouds in this image, we can still see some vertebra-like coral formations of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

The section of the reef visible in the image is one of the northernmost segments, located along the eastern coast of the Cape York Peninsula in the Queensland region.

The largest islands visible, towards the center, are Flinders Island and Blackwook Island, at the tip of Cape Melville, in Bathurst Bay. The larger bay to the southwest is Princess Charlotte Bay.

All of the area visible in this image is part of the Far North section of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
