Tell Atlas Range Along Coast of Morocco and Algeria – July 21st, 201134.1N 1.2E
The Strait of Gibraltar can be seen at the left edge of this image, separating Spain (above) from Morocco (below). Following the Mediterranean coast to the east, one comes to Algeria.
The coastal area of Morocco and Algeria shows the mountains of the Tell Atlas range, while the terrain further inland is covered by the Sahara Desert. The Tell Atlas is a mountain chain over 1,500 kilometers in length, belonging to the Atlas mountain ranges in North Africa, stretching from Morocco, through Algeria to Tunisia.
The Tell Atlas parallels the Mediterranean coast; the area from the coast to the Tell Atlas is fertile. South of the Tell Atlas is a steppe landscape, which ends with the Saharan Atlas; further south, there is the Sahara desert.
