February 7th, 2013 Category: Image of the day, Lakes

USA – January 24th, 2013

While the shores of Lake Erie are mostly surrounded by bright white snow and some cloud cover, the lake’s waters are bright shades of gold, green and blue due to the presence of sediments. ┬áSince Lake Erie is the most shallow of the Great Lakes, the exchange of sediments, as well as contaminants, may affect it more greatly than┬áthe other Great Lakes.
