Sandstorms Over Dubai, United Arab Emirates – March 2nd, 201025.2N 55.3E
Strong winds caused sandstorms in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday and Friday, causing problems for motorists on highways across the country. These storms struck both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, reducing visibility to a few hundred metres in some areas.
These images show dust spreading off the coast, from Qatar (left) to the Musandam Peninsula (right). Below the razor-straight dust plumes many islands are visible off the coast, including the artificial islands offshore of Dubai (Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Jumeirah, Palm Deira and The World Archipelago).
