This orthorectified image shows the confluence of the Niger and Benue Rivers (top). The Niger can then be seen flowing southward through Nigeria, discharging through a massive delta, known as the Niger Delta or the Oil Rivers, into the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean.

Also visible near the coast is Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, Nigeria. Visible as a white area near the shoreline in the center bottom part of the image, it lies along the Bonny River and is located in the Niger Delta.
