Russia – August 11th, 2012

Visible north of Russia’s Kanin Peninsula and northwest of Kolguyev Island is phytoplankton bloom in the Barents Sea (click¬†here¬†for previous images). The bloom is bright turquoise near the top of the image, with a less intense yet darker blue part visible further south. In the lower part of the image, sediments can be seen in Chesha Bay (east of Kanin Peninsula and south of Kolguyev Island) and in Mezen bay (west of the peninsula).
