Phytoplankton Bloom Parallel to Argentine Coast Intensifies – December 31st, 201044S 60.4W
The green and blue lines parallel to the coast of Argentina are part of a phytoplankton bloom. Also of note are sediments near the city of Bahía Blanca (top center).
The bloom has grown brighter since it was last observed in early December (click here for previous article). This amplification in brightness is due to increased reproduction and therefore greater numbers of the green and blue single-celled organisms.
