Orange River Dividing South Africa and Namibia – July 3rd, 2010
The Orange River can be seen flowing more or less horizontally across the upper half of this image, releasing a small amount of greenish sediments into the Atlantic Ocean at its mouth. The river marks the border between Namibia, above, and South Africa, below.
Most of the dark brown areas parallel to the coast are mountainous, while the tan areas inland are much flatter. In South Africa, in the lower right quadrant, many white patches speckle the landscape: these are salt flats or salt pans.
