Dust Over Iraq – July 5th, 2012

Several thick plumes of dust blow over Iraq and Kuwait, covering much of the mouth of the Shatt al-Arab, and out over the Persian Gulf. Three distinct colors can be seen in the plumes, due to the type of dust and sand blowing about: two light tan plumes above and below, with a darker and slightly more orange plume between them. Visible in the full image is a phytoplankton bloom, probably encouraged by minerals from sediments, around Qatar.
