Mountains and Lakes by Great Central Valley, California37.0N 120.1W
California’s Great Central Valley bordered by mountain ranges, including the Sierra Nevada to the east, the Coast Ranges to the west, and the Tehachapi Mountains to the south.
The Sierra Nevada, as its name suggests, is capped with snow in this image. Several lakes stand out against the white backdrop, the largest of which are Lake Tahoe (near top edge) and Mono Lake (below the former).
Several cities can also be observed in and near the valley, including San Francisco (near the coast in the upper left quadrant) and Bakersfield (near the southern edge of the valley).
