Meeting of Central Asian Borders Amidst Valleys and Mountains – April 10th, 2009
The land visible here is around the borders of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Krygystan and Kazakhstan.
The mountains to the north are part of the Tien Shan Range, while those to the south are part of the Pamir Range.
Most of the mountainous area to the north and east is part of Krygystan, while that to the south belongs to Tajikistan.
Most of the valley encircled by the mountains belongs to Krygystan, while a small section wrapping around the greenish lake, the Kairakum Reservoir, is part of Tajikistan.
Finally, the lands to the north and the agricultural areas to the northwest of the mountainous belong to Kazakhstan.
The close-up focuses on the Kairakum Reservoir, while the Charvak Reservoir is also visible to its north, nestled among the mountains.
