The large body of water at the top of this orthorectified image of Ghana is Lake Volta, the largest reservoir by surface area in the world, and the fourth largest one by water volume. It is located completely within the country of Ghana, and it has a surface area of about 8,502 kmĀ² (3,275 square miles).

Visible south of Lake Volta in the full image is Accra, the capital and largest city of Ghana. Originally built around a port, Accra stretches along the Ghanaian Atlantic coast and extends north into the interior.
