Persian Gulf - November 28th, 2010

In this image greenish sediments can be seen entering the Persian Gulf from the Shatt al’Arab, the river created by the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.

The countries located around the Persian Gulf are Iran, to the north, showing various ridges of mountains, Iraq and Kuwait on the northwestern end of the gulf, and Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates on the Arabian Peninsula to the south. The peninsula is mostly arid and large parts are covered in sandy desert.
