Caspian Sea - August 29th, 2010

The northern end of the Caspian Sea appears green and turquoise in color due to the influx of sediments from the Volga River and algae.

The fan-shaped delta of the Volga can be seen on the northern shores on the left side of the image. In the full image, many intricate channels can be seen weaving their way across the delta plain towards the sea.
